Today, the upcoming Ethereum upgrade named Pectra has been activated on the Sepolia test network. Sepolia is testing the features of this update under simulated conditions before deploying it on the main Ethereum network. Sepolia is the final stage before launching this upgrade on the main network; if the test proceeds smoothly, the implementation of Pectra on the main network is expected to occur next month. The previous phase of Pectra testing on February 24th was carried out on the Holsky test network. Pectra, a combination of ‘Prag’ (execution layer changes) and ‘Electra’ (consensus layer updates), introduces several changes to enhance Ethereum’s scalability. If successful, developers anticipate finalizing the main network activation date on March 6, 2025.
