Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that he will discuss ending the war in Ukraine with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, on Wednesday. Trump, speaking to reporters on his way back to Washington, said, ‘We want to see if we can end this war. Maybe we can, maybe not, but I think we have a good chance.’ According to Trump, the U.S. is trying to secure Russia’s support for the 30-day ceasefire proposal accepted by Ukraine last week. This comes as intense aerial clashes between the two countries continue, and Russian forces are on the brink of evicting Ukrainian soldiers from the Korzsk region in western Russia. Trump also mentioned that peace talks will address issues such as territory and power plants, adding that ‘a lot of discussions have taken place between the two parties on this matter.’
