Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that a 25% tariff will be imposed on car imports and car parts starting from April 2. This decision is part of Trump’s supportive policies for domestic industries and includes cars and parts produced outside the United States. Imports of parts from Canada and Mexico are temporarily exempt from this tariff until their evaluation system is established. Analysts have warned that this action could lead to increased car prices, disruptions in the global supply chain, and tensions with America’s trading allies. Last year, around 8 million cars were imported to the U.S., valued at over $240 billion. Trump emphasized that this decision will be permanent and only cars produced in America are exempt from the tariff.
