The T3 financial crimes unit in Spain, consisting of Tron, Tether, and TRM Labs, has frozen $26.4 million of digital currencies related to a money laundering network. Established in August 2024 to combat illegal financial activities, T3 unit’s investigations were based on police monitoring criminal organizations. Measures taken by authorities included KYC information to identify digital wallets associated with illegal activities. Despite these actions, Tron still accounts for 58% of illegal transactions in the industry. Tether remains popular for illicit movements.
