Toulouse leads in digital currency adoption for transportation. Pay with Bitcoin and 70+ currencies on public transit. Tickets cost 0.000024 BTC.

Starting from March 17, 2025, the city of Toulouse in France became the first city in Europe to accept Bitcoin (BTC) and over 70 other digital currencies for paying metro and other public transportation fees. The public transportation company Tisséo has enabled passengers to convert their digital currencies to euros and pay for tickets using a mobile app on their Android devices. Each single trip ticket costs around 0.000024 Bitcoin (1.80 euros). This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the fintech company Lyzi and the Binance exchange.
