According to the independent audit report by BDO Global, Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer globally, concluded 2024 with $143.7 billion in assets against $136.613 billion in liabilities, resulting in a $7 billion surplus reserves. The report states that $118.335 billion of Tether’s assets consist of cash and cash equivalents (mostly US Treasury bonds). Additionally, the company holds $7.8 billion in Bitcoin (BTC), $5.3 billion in precious metals, $8.1 billion in secured loans, and $14 million in corporate bonds. This report comes after a court had requested Tether in 2022 to prove the backing of its assets.
