Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, announced that the platform has officially become profitable in 2024, generating over a billion dollars in revenue for the first time. Telegram’s revenue has increased from $350 million in 2023 to this figure, indicating almost a threefold growth. This growth is attributed to various revenue-generating initiatives such as premium subscription services, expanding advertising strategies, monetized content channels, and video services. Telegram expects to end the year with cash reserves exceeding $500 million. The sale of TON coins, a digital currency developed within the Telegram ecosystem, has played a significant role in improving the company’s financials. Despite this financial success, Telegram still faces regulatory constraints and has employed over 750 content moderators to combat illegal content, blocking 15 million groups and channels in 2024.
