Tavanir CEO warns against illegal miners consuming electricity equivalent to a nuclear power plant. Severe penalties await offenders.

According to Tavanir News Agency, the CEO of Tavanir company stated that 15,000 unauthorized mining machines have been discovered and confiscated since the beginning of this year. Mustafa Rajabi Mashhadi warned users of public electricity networks against using them for digital currency mining. He noted that the electricity consumed by these miners is equivalent to 800 megawatts, the same as a unit of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. He cautioned that those illegally mining digital currencies are encroaching on people’s rights and causing power outages in some areas. He emphasized that severe financial penalties and even electricity disconnection await offenders. He also mentioned the removal of 13,000 of these mining machines by the end of last December. The Tavanir CEO denied allegations of digital currency mining in some embassies, stating, ‘We have not received any reports on this matter so far.’
