SEC dismisses lawsuit against Coinbase and rethinks digital currency policies, marking a significant moment for the industry.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has dropped its lawsuit against Coinbase, which was accused of illegal activities in 2023. Mark T. Uyeda, Acting Chairman of the SEC, stated the need for the commission to revise its approach and create clearer policies on digital currencies. Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, sees this as a pivotal moment for the digital currency industry in the US. Paul Grewal, Coinbase’s legal chief, considers it a victory for the 52 million Americans holding digital assets. Concurrently, the SEC has also halted its investigations into Consensys exchange, indicating a shift in its regulatory stance.
