The prison administration confirmed that this particular interview was unauthorized. Bankman-Fried has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since August 2023. The prison has strict rules regarding inmate communication. The interview, published on Carlson’s YouTube channel, has garnered over 730,000 views. In the conversation, Bankman-Fried discussed life in prison post-conviction and his views on digital currency regulations in America. While Carlson did not directly ask about the possibility of pardon by Trump, Bankman-Fried seemed receptive to some Republican ideas.
