The user account of the Pump.fun platform on the social network X (formerly Twitter) was attacked by hackers. They posted fake posts about the launch of the governance token PUMP to deceive users. In this attack, one of the scammers managed to make over $135,000 in profit within a minute by manipulating the price of the fake token. Pump.fun had stated previously that they had no intention of launching any token. Investigations reveal that over 60% of the fake PUMP tokens are held in two centralized wallets.
