According to Reuters, opposition lawmakers in Argentina announced that Javier Milei, the controversial president of the country, will face impeachment in Congress for promoting a meme coin scam that quickly lost its value. Milei introduced an unknown currency called Libra on social media, which reached a value of nearly $5 per unit. Just a few hours later, the value of this digital currency plummeted by 95%. Leandro Santoro, a representative of the opposition coalition, stated, ‘This disgrace that embarrasses us internationally requires a request for impeachment against the president.’ The Argentine Financial Technology Chamber stated that this is likely a Rug Pull scam. The Argentine president, after removing his advertisement, declared that he had no connection to this digital currency and was unaware of the details of this project.
