The North Korean hacker group Lazarus continues its operations of laundering digital currencies while simultaneously releasing new malware to target developers. Security firm CertiK identified a transfer of 400 Ethereum (ETH) worth about $750,000 to the Tornado Cash platform on March 13, linked to the group’s previous activities in the Bitcoin (BTC) network. Lazarus, known for major hacks like the $1.4 billion theft from Bybit in February, also distributed six new malware packages on the Node Package Manager platform designed to steal user information and digital wallet data. According to Chainalysis, North Korean hackers have stolen over $1.3 billion in digital currencies through 47 attacks in 2024.
