Metaplanet Japan joins MSCI index as second largest Bitcoin holder in Asia. CEO views milestone as key in Bitcoin investment position in Japan.
Metaplanet, the second-largest holder of Bitcoin (BTC) in Asia, will be added to the MSCI Japan index on February 28 alongside major Japanese companies like McDonald’s and Tokyo Electric Power. Simon Gerovich, CEO of Metaplanet, sees this event as a milestone in solidifying the company’s position as a leading Bitcoin investment firm in Japan. By shifting its strategy towards Bitcoin in early 2024, the company has experienced a rapid 3600% growth in stock value, the fastest growth in the Japanese stock market. Metaplanet currently holds 1,762 Bitcoins and aims to increase this amount to 21,000 units by the end of 2026.
