Hamster Kombat has announced its plan to launch a layer 2 network on the TON Network. This initiative follows a community vote within their decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) to create a dedicated blockchain for expanding the utility of the HMSTR token. The new network, possibly named Hamster Network, will form the foundation of the broader HamsterVerse ecosystem. Developers have confirmed that work on this network has already begun. In the coming weeks, the Hamster team intends to present a detailed roadmap and execution strategy to the DAO, focusing on strengthening Hamster Kombat’s position in the decentralized gaming sector. This comes as interest in tap-to-earn games on Telegram has decreased by about 80% from June to December 2024. Additionally, the monthly active wallet count on the TON network has decreased by almost 50% since October.
