In the last days of 2024, the digital currency market witnessed a historic record in the volume of expiring options contracts. Today, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) options contracts worth a total of $18 billion are expiring, including 88,537 Bitcoin contracts worth $14.38 billion and 796,021 Ethereum contracts worth $3.7 billion. Data from Deribit platform shows that this volume is four times that of the previous week. The ratio of put to call contracts for Bitcoin is 0.69 and for Ethereum is 0.41, indicating a positive sentiment among traders, although the gradual increase in this ratio for Bitcoin in recent months may indicate an increasing risk hedging inclination.
