The Chief Justice of Khuzestan announced the conviction of an individual to pay over 65 billion rials as a penalty for illegally using electricity for cryptocurrency mining. The offender, who operated 213 cryptocurrency mining machines, was prosecuted and sentenced following a complaint from the power distribution company. He warned that unauthorized cryptocurrency mining can lead to legal and criminal consequences, in addition to power outages and disruptions in public electricity supply. The official urged individuals and businesses to refrain from misusing subsidized electricity for cryptocurrency mining.
