Kraken delists Tether and stablecoins in Europe due to new regulations. Learn about the impact and changes in the digital currency market.

Kraken, one of the world’s largest digital currency exchanges, has announced the delisting of Tether (USDT) and four other stablecoins in the European Economic Area (EEA). This process will be carried out in several stages with automatic conversion of remaining assets by March 31, 2025. Starting from February 13, 2025, users will no longer be able to open new positions. By February 27, spot trades will be limited to ‘sell only’. All margin positions will be automatically closed by March 17. On March 24, spot trading will be completely halted, and all remaining orders will be canceled. After March 31, users’ remaining assets will be converted to a compliant asset based on the new regulations.
