The anticipated upgrade of Ethereum’s Pectra encountered another obstacle in the Sepolia test network. Tim Beiko, Ethereum Foundation’s protocol support lead, revealed that a problem with a custom deposit contract in Sepolia caused disruptions in some client implementations and in-block transactions. Emiliano Bonassi, product manager at Conduit, confirmed the network is producing empty blocks. This issue arose less than two hours after the successful finalization of Pectra in Sepolia. Due to these technical issues, the timeline for launching the mainnet, scheduled for next month, is now uncertain. Christine Kim, a researcher at Galaxy Digital, pointed out that Ethereum’s growing ecosystem might prolong the time needed for future upgrades.
