Central Bank limits fund transfers and settlements for online businesses via API until April 4, 2025, affecting companies with access to banking web services.

The Central Bank of Iran has announced through a circular that settlements and fund transfers for online businesses via API will be limited until April 4, 2025. This decision, also approved by Gibit, affects all companies with access to banking web services. From March 19, 2025, to March 24, 2025, settlements and withdrawals were only processed once a day, at 13:45, with a maximum completion time of 24 hours. However, this restriction will continue until April 4. This decision comes amid previous notices where some cryptocurrency exchanges did not mention such limitations. In response, Reza Masoudfar, CEO of Tetherland, stated on social media that this mandatory closure will create problems for online businesses and their users, as people will not be able to receive their funds during this period. With the upcoming Norooz holidays and users’ need for liquidity, the Central Bank’s decision can pose challenges for merchants and online businesses.
