Mehdi Taghiani, a parliament member, requested the urgent submission of a bill to regulate cryptocurrencies to the parliament in a letter to the president. This request came after the blocking of payment gateways related to cryptocurrency businesses on December 27. In response to this action, besides widespread protests, Taghiani asked the president in a letter to swiftly resolve this issue. Despite the central bank not officially explaining the reasons for the restrictions, evidence suggests that one of the main reasons for this action was to control the currency market, which has recently faced an increase in rates. Taghiani emphasized in the letter that despite repeated requests from the parliament, the government has not yet presented a bill to regulate cryptocurrencies.
