A British National Crime Agency (NCA) officer is accused of stealing 50 Bitcoins (BTC) in 2017, which was worth around $77,000 at that time. Paul Chowles, 42, from Bristol, faces 15 criminal charges related to this theft allegedly committed while on duty as an NCA operative. According to Merseyside Police report, this theft is claimed to have occurred during investigations into organized online crimes. The value of these 50 Bitcoins, worth approximately $77,000 (60,000 pounds) in 2017, has now reached around $4 million. Chowles is due to appear in Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on April 25, 2025.
