Three BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) member countries have stated in response to Donald Trump’s remarks that they have no intention to weaken the dollar. Russian diplomat Sergey Ryabkov mentioned that BRICS is ready to explain to Trump that they do not intend to attack the dollar. The Indian Foreign Minister also emphasized that weakening the dollar would be detrimental to India as the US is its largest trading partner. South Africa also clarified that reports about creating a new BRICS currency have been misinterpreted. These statements came after Trump warned that if there were attempts to replace the dollar, a 100% tariff would be imposed on imports from BRICS countries.
