Pierre Rochard, Deputy Research Director at Riot Platforms, reacted to recent criticisms by Jason Calacanis against Michael Saylor. Calacanis claimed that Saylor’s aggressive Bitcoin (BTC) buying strategy and extensive promotion of the Bitcoin ecosystem and brand are damaging and causing excessive centralization. In response, Rochard emphasized that Bitcoin’s design is inherently decentralized and no individual, regardless of their wealth, can unilaterally change consensus rules. He also argued that Bitcoin’s value is based on its fundamental features such as predictable issuance program, encryption security, and a strong community of decentralized operators, not on a single spokesperson.
