After the Senate approved him with 51 votes in favor against 45 votes opposed, he secured his position in Donald Trump’s government. Lutnick is now responsible for economic policy at the Department of Commerce, an institution with 50,000 employees handling tasks such as managing economic data, census, and monitoring weather conditions. He will also oversee Trump’s trade policies, including imposing new import tariffs.
