Discover why 20% of electricity imbalance is linked to miners. Learn about unauthorized consumption and its impact. Find out more from an expert at Tavanir Company.

According to Jam-e-Jam, Mohammad Allahdad, the deputy of transmission and foreign trade at Tavanir Company, stated that approximately 20% of our imbalances are caused by the activities of miners. Some people want to ignore the issue and attribute it solely to miners, but we do not have a problem with miners as a whole. We support them, and among the miners’ consumption, we also have legitimate consumption. Unfortunately, these 20% engage in unauthorized activities. Allahdad further added that current investigations show that over 1,000 megawatts of the country’s produced electricity is unlawfully consumed by illegal centers for digital currency extraction. On average, each miner consumes 3.5 to 4 kilowatts per hour. In fact, due to miners’ continuous operations throughout the day and night, calculations indicate that each miner consumes electricity equivalent to 10 households’ needs. Nevertheless, a maximum of 20% of the imbalance is related to them.
