The disruption in Amazon Web Services affects centralized exchanges like Binance and KuCoin, causing concerns among users about their assets. Learn more about the impact and implications.

Today, April 15, 2025, a widespread disruption in the infrastructure services of Amazon Web Services (AWS) caused several centralized cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance, KuCoin, and MEXC, to face performance issues. According to AWS report, at least 12 services of this company have experienced communication problems. Binance was the first exchange to report this disruption. KuCoin also announced temporary disruptions due to this extensive outage. Users of the MEXC exchange encountered issues such as abnormal charts, delayed asset transfers, and order cancellations. However, the exchange assured that users’ assets remain completely safe. Amazon Web Services, as a cloud infrastructure used by many major exchanges like Coinbase, Crypto.com, Huobi, BitMEX, and Kraken, plays a vital role in providing high processing power and low latency in transaction execution. This disruption once again showed that excessive reliance on centralized infrastructures can be vulnerable to how a simple technical flaw can have widespread chain effects on the entire network.
