Lucy Powell’s social media account, the head of the British House of Commons, was hacked on the X network, and scammers used it to promote a fake digital currency called ‘House of Commons Coin’. The token was based on the Solana network and claimed to be a ‘community-based digital currency’. Powell’s team quickly locked the account and removed misleading posts. Despite efforts to create excitement, the token did not gain much success, with trading volume only reaching around $71,000. This incident is one of many cases of misusing political figures’ accounts to promote fake digital currencies. Similar incidents have occurred in Ghana, Cuba, and Argentina, leading to significant financial losses in some cases.
