Central Bank imposes restrictions on online business settlements. Withdrawal limits and approval process detailed.

The Central Bank has imposed restrictions on settling accounts for online businesses until March 31, 2025, through a new directive. According to this directive communicated by ‘Jibit’ company, the withdrawal limit from the accounts of companies using online banking services has been capped at 4 billion Iranian Rials per transaction and 20 billion Iranian Rials per day. Withdrawals exceeding 20 billion Rials will only be possible with review and approval by the relevant anti-money laundering unit of the bank. The Central Bank aims to increase transparency in fund flows and control transactions during the Nowruz holidays, but this action has faced widespread criticism from online business operators and digital currency exchanges. According to some managers, this decision has caused disruptions in settlements and service interruptions.
