Carney, who previously served as the head of the central banks of Canada and England, won the majority vote to replace Justin Trudeau. He has criticized Bitcoin in the past for its limited supply that has led to speculative frenzy, calling it a weak store of value. Carney also believes that establishing a global virtual gold standard like Bitcoin would be a criminal act. Carney has also supported the adoption of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). In his victory speech, Carney criticized Donald Trump for unfair tariff practices, stating that retaliatory tariffs will remain until the US shows respect to Canada. He also emphasized that Canada will never be a part of the US.
