Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Belarus, has instructed the newly appointed Energy Minister, Alexei Kushnarenko, to expand the digital currency mining industry in the country. Lukashenko emphasized the existing capacities and stated, ‘We should explore the opportunity of mining digital currencies. If this activity proves profitable for us, we will prioritize developing this industry using surplus electricity.’ The Belarusian President also referenced recent developments in the United States, where the new administration under Donald Trump has expressed intentions to become a global hub for digital currencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
