CFTC Acting Chair initiates discussions on digital currencies to enhance U.S. economic growth and competitiveness

Caroline Pham, the temporary head of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), announced the start of a series of public roundtables on market structure innovation, digital assets, and prediction markets. This initiative follows Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony, indicating a new regulatory approach. Pham stated that the CFTC will meet with industry leaders, groups, and other stakeholders in the coming months to develop clear regulations and protections for enhancing America’s economic growth and competitiveness through gathering studies, data, and expert reports. This shift in approach coincides with similar changes in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the appointment of Paul Atkins, a supporter of digital currencies, as the head of this institution.
