Roman Storm, Tornado Cash co-founder, addresses money laundering allegations with legal consequences. Vitalik Buterin and Vivek Ramaswamy are among his supporters.
Roman Storm, one of the founders of Tornado Cash protocol, responded to money laundering accusations by stating that the legal pursuit of open-source software developers is an intrusion of privacy. Facing up to 45 years in prison for money laundering and sanctions violations, he has paid over a million dollars in legal fees. Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum (ETH), and Vivek Ramaswamy, a politician and entrepreneur, are among Storm’s supporters. The case comes at a time when a recent court ruling stated that Tornado’s smart contracts are not considered assets under US laws. Storm’s next court session is scheduled for April 14, 2025.
