A young Canadian hacker named Andean Medjedovic is under investigation for allegedly stealing $48.8 million in digital currency from the KyberSwap trading platform. According to the federal prosecutor in New York, the 22-year-old hacker exploited a vulnerability in the platform’s code to carry out a series of specific transactions and create artificial prices, stealing from 77 liquidity pools in six public blockchain blocks. The suspect, currently on the run, attempted to take control of the protocol through threats of extortion after the theft and offered to return 50% of the stolen digital assets.
